Equipment Technician
-
Our dedicated Equipment Technician ensures the safe handling, setup, and operation of all equipment throughout your shoot. From driving the Kit Van to managing camera, gimbal and lighting setups, they are there to provide technical support and ensure the shoot runs smoothly.
-
At London Filmworks, the Equipment Technician is an integral part of our service offering. We believe in providing the best value for your production, which is why the Equipment Technician is included in our £1,200/day package. The role is essential for a few key reasons. Firstly, the Equipment Technician is crucial for insurance purposes, ensuring that the kit is safe and properly handled throughout the shoot. This prevents issues with unattended or mishandled equipment, keeping everything covered under our insurance policy.
Secondly, with the Equipment Technician on site, the gear can be maintained and kept in optimal condition throughout the day. This means there’s no need to prep the kit in advance at the kit house, which helps keep our costs down and we pass those savings on to you. The Equipment Technician’s familiarity with the gear also greatly speeds up the workflow. They know where everything is, making setup, breakdown, and any troubleshooting much quicker. Having them on hand ensures the shoot runs smoothly, saving you valuable time and reducing potential delays.
-
Our camera assistant's priority is the care and management of our kit. While they will assist with setting up the equipment, they won’t be responsible for other production tasks like running errands or non-equipment-related duties. They are there to ensure the gear operates flawlessly throughout the shoot.
-
While the assistant is responsible for the technical setup and safety of the equipment, they are not hired as an operator.
Equipment Transport & Logistics
-
Kit transport within the M25 is included at no additional charge. For locations outside the M25, transport is charged at 75p per mile, calculated from our London N7 base to the shoot location and back. This includes all travel to and from the shoot location(s).
-
Yes, for shoots requiring a travel day, the cost will be quoted separately, depending on the distance and other factors.
-
Accommodation costs for our Equipment Technician will be quoted separately if an overnight stay is required. This will be agreed upon in advance, ensuring transparency and no unexpected charges.
Insurance
-
In most cases, no! At London Filmworks, we pride ourselves on offering a hassle-free rental experience, and that includes taking care of the insurance. Since our dedicated camera assistant is always on set managing the equipment, it’s typically fully covered by London Filmworks.
However, there are a few specific situations where we won’t be able to provide coverage. These include, but aren’t limited to:
- Working on large productions with equipment from other rental houses.
- Situations where the London Filmworks camera assistant can’t be present.
- Filming in high-risk environments.
- Use of equipment on moving platforms (such as vehicles or drones).
- Rigging the equipment using non-London Filmworks gear.
- Filming in extreme or adverse weather conditions.
If your production involves any of these scenarios, you will need to arrange insurance for the equipment. Rest assured, we’re here to guide you through the process and ensure everything is clear upfront. For more detailed information, please refer to our Terms and Conditions here.
Booking & Payment
-
We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your shoot date.
-
Payment is due within 30 days of invoicing. We don’t ask for deposits, and all fees are clearly outlined in the terms and conditions to ensure transparency. We aim to make the process as smooth as possible for our clients.
-
If you need to cancel your booking, just let us know in writing via email or WhatsApp. Cancellations made 4+ working days in advance won’t incur a charge. However, cancellations within 3 days may result in a fee, with 100% of the fee charged if canceled within 24 hours.
